Don't Bully My Kids

Q) I heard that children should not weight lift, as it was actually bad for their health. Is that true?

FALSE – with proper program design and correct form, children can safely make drastic changes in muscular strength & power while having a very positive influence on their body composition. In addition, they will also see Improved performance in whatever sport they may be engaged in.

We have trained children as young as 8 years old with dramatic results. In our opinion, children should NOT DO ONE REP MAXIMAL WEIGHT LIFTS simply for fear of injury. At DontBullyMyKids.Com we generally keep children in the 12 to 20-rep range while training with weights. With weight that light, it is near impossible to suffer any negative effect from weightlifting at all.

Q) What type of training do you have at DontBullyMyKids.com.

Don’t let the name fool you. We have adult personal fitness training programs, children’s personal fitness training programs, our specialized DontBullyMyKids.Com children’s program to empower children and build their strength and confidence, as well as adult personal training self-defense programs.

Q) What is the DontBullyMyKids Class for children like? What age ranges is the class for and what do the children do in the class?

Our very unique program was designed to increase a child’s self esteem, confidence, fitness and strength, while empowering a child to handle potential bully issues that they may be confronted with. The age ranges for the class are between 5 years old up to 17. The classes are for both boys & girls.

Q) Do you give any nutrition guidance?

Yes, we give nutritional guidelines that parallel the FDA Guidelines, with the exception that we recommend slightly more complete proteins. Adult Personal Training:

Q) I am a woman. I should NOT weight lift because it will make me look like a man, right?

WRONG- Nothing could be FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. The primary hormone in women is estrogen. Because of estrogen, a woman will never look like a man as far as muscularity. Those women you see on body building shows do look like men because many of them are in fact taking synthetic male testosterone. Weight training for women can quickly assist in toning and shaping a woman’s body.

Q) The best way to take off body fat is to do lots and lots of cardio – right?

WRONG – Doing cardio is great exercise, especially for your heart and lungs, with great benefits such as helping to lower your bad cholesterol and raise your good cholesterol as well….but……. During aerobic or CARDIO activity, the body is very efficient at turning a carb (glycogen) into ATP – the chemical that allows for muscle contraction. In fact, the net yield aerobically is 36 molecules of ATP for each molecule of glycogen. Anaerobically, or from weightlifting, the body can only manufacture 2 molecules of ATP from the molecule of glycogen. Because the body is less efficient during anaerobic activity, it will burn more glycogen by a proper weight lifting session than by doing a cardio workout

In addition, lifting weights causes micro tears to the muscle fiber, which the body repairs at a cost of energy to the body – another word, energy is calories. This reparation process increases a person’s metabolism forcing the body to burn more calories than the body would normally burn just to repair that damaged muscle tissue. The muscle tissue then is repaired thicker and stronger, giving the person the appearance of either definition or size, depending on what type of training the person is doing to increase muscle size or definition.

Also, the more muscle a person puts on their body the more arterioles and venules are created by the body to fuel the muscle. This in turn also raises the bodies’ metabolic rate forcing the burning of more calories.

Q) It will take months to see noticeable results while weight training, right?

NOPE - Most people see incredible results in just 10 visits – about 3 and 1/3 weeks with our style of weight training. The average client takes off between 5 – 7 pounds of fat during that time. Although this does not seem like a lot of fat, it is a noticeable difference on the body. Also, muscle has about twice the density of fat, so even though you may take off 7 pounds of fat, most of that fat will be replaced by muscle, meaning your body weight will not change hardly at all. Your waistline will have big changes though – which is good for your health! Eventually the body weight does go down as you reduce your consumption of calories and clean up your nutritional intake. The record here was a 22 year old woman taking 7 & 3/8ths inches off her waist in 10 visits but not losing any weight whatsoever initially.

Q) How long do I have to spend to spend training to get the results mentioned above?

One hour, three times per week at our personal training facility is all it takes, with no additional times needed for training on your own. You should eat properly so you are getting the proper nutriments without ever being hungry during your workout session..

Q) What is the best time of day to train?

The best time of day to train is the time that you know you will show up and train. Although we have seen one magazine come up with the time of 2:39 PM as being the best time to workout, we have clients ready to go at 4:45 AM and clients ready to go at 8:00 PM . It all just depends on your body and what you prefer.
